"The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain."

Tinika Coleman, RMT
Tinika is a graduate from Centennial College. Since high school, she always knew she wanted to be in a profession in the health care field. When choosing between becoming a nurse or massage therapist, she found that pursuing Massage Therapy was her true passion.

During treatment Tinika incorporates Swedish techniques, deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, frictioning, PNF stretching, and joint mobilizations.

In 2016 she took continuing education courses to learn about the use and benefits of cupping therapy for overall health and wellness and the effects it has on the lymphatic system, how it detoxifies the body and the fascial restrictions. Cupping therapy is a very beneficial and different treatment from regular massage in that it uses decompressive methods with lifting and pulling the structures to create space rather than compressing the tissue.

She has also been educated on the use and benefits of reflexology massage. During treatment she always ensures that she works within the comfort levels of her clients and checks in with the pressure she's applying. Seeing the results and how much she can help her clients throughout their everyday body stresses while helping them to achieve their goals is greatly rewarding to her. She likes to make recommendations on how to incorporate home care into their every day lifestyles.

I enjoy making people's bodies work better for them. I find it hugely satisfying to reduce or eliminate pain and discomfort or improve range of motion and function which can result from daily life, old injuries, or other causes.

My treatments use "myofascial" elements and neuromuscular techniques including "trigger point release" along with positioning and stretching to achieve my client's goals. I use slow, deep, comfortable strokes along with physical ques or feedback to alleviate tension, find problem areas, and sources of pain intuitively.

I'm able to effectively treat people of various states including the athletic, pregnant, elderly, chronically injured, and others.
I encourage a dialogue throughout the treatment to achieve optimal results and enable my clients to maintain their progress.
